I hated that we had to come back home. I enjoyed our vacation so much that I was ready to book another one. Coming back home meant going back to work and discovering the ins and outs of this new relationship I agreed to. I must admit, even with us coming home under new circumstances, he didn’t let up on the princess treatment. Every Wednesday, I got some type of flower arrangement. I didn’t know how he kept up, but it was never the same as the week prior.

The maintenance for my house and car were taken care of, and it was something I never had to ask for. Arelyis just handled it like it was his daily chore. Dates were always a given. He planned them based off studying me. This man had been reading me like I was an author. I mean, at this point, anytime his name appeared on my phone, that alone would get me moist. I was loving this soft girl era, and I didn’t mind it one bit.

He gave me no reason to think anything off the wall. Hell, the man even gave me his phone without an issue. I never went through it, but the fact he wasn’t so secretive was a plus for me. Quincy would never. Every day, Arelyis showed me that he was nothing like the last man. He was everything and then some. I was glad me trying to be a hot girl put me in the course of him.

Being that it was Father’s Day weekend, Arelyis had a party planned for tonight. Any other night, I would’ve stayed in, but being that he asked me to come out, I agreed. I mean, I’d never turn down anytime being up under my man. Blessing and I walked the mall, trying to find her something to wear. After an hour or so of looking, she finally found something.

“I don’t know why you insist on dragging me to this damn place.”

“Because who else would come with me?” she quizzed.

“Uhhh, Drew, Erin, Nessa,” I said, scrunching my face up at her.

“Ma’am, why can’t you just go with the flow?”

“Because I hate shopping.”

“I bet if AD asked yo’ ass—”

“It’ll be the same damn thing.”

“Whatever.”

Midway through trying clothes on, she got a call that she ended up taking. So to waste time, I walked over to the pretzel place. It was my turn to order when I heard Quincy behind me, giving the cashier my order. I hadn’t seen him since his run in with Arelyis. Granted, he had called my phone multiple times; he got the same thing each time, my voicemail.

“You can put it on my card.”

“Please don’t,” I begged the cashier.

“C’mon, Ky. I can get that for you.”

“I rather you not.” I gave the cashier my card, walking away the moment the transaction was finalized.

I could feel Quincy grabbing at my forearm. “You must be out your rabid ass mind, grabbing me like this.”

“I wouldn’t have to grab you if you would just talk to me.
